Alright, night life is a stretch, but it was definitely later than we normally go out. T took a long nap and woke up at 5PM. We knew there was no chance of him going back to sleep within the next two hours, so the opportunity was there for us to do something in the evening.
we jumped at the chance we decided to go to Ikea to return some silverware. Isn’t that what all families do for adventure? (insert sarcasm please). Ty was all for it because a trip to Ikea means he can get frozen yogurt. He really is an easy-to-please little boy.
We seldom go out after dark, unless it is to run a quick errand so Ikea was a precious treat for me.
On our way however, while I wasn’t looking up, Daddy made a detour that took us to the boardwalk. I lit up the moment I realized we were actually going out. Ty was not on board with the change initially because as you can imagine, the prospect of frozen yogurt flashed before his eyes. Good thing one of his favorite spots for frozen yogurt was nearby, so given the perfect parents that we are, we agreed that he could have ice cream from there. Once this arrangement was made, we heard not one more word about Ikea.
Do you see what I mean? Easy to
We walked around and looked at the ducks.
We took pictures together. First, me with the kids
Then Tramond with the kids
And as we were taking turns, this kind young woman walked by and offered to take a family portrait for us.
We don’t have many pictures of the four of us as one of us is usually taking the picture, and I cherish every picture with all of us. I was overjoyed at her kindness and I thanked her profusely.
Some days are perfect, not because of where you go, but because of the people you are with. And it most certainly was one of those simply perfect days. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the time we spent together, just walking around the obscured lake, counting ducks and later on sharing burgers.
This life I’m living is not extravagant, but it is perfect for me. This gentleman that I share it with is just right for me…and the two little boys God has blessed us with are just that, our tremendous blessing.
They are my truest treasures and moments with them just fill my heart with bursting joy.
