I use the word glam loosely here. My lack of hair styling this past year would have anyone question my past years blogging about natural hair care. Life happens in stages and my journey is proof positive of it.”There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:” certainly holds true when it comes to my hair.
If you’re a busy natural hair wearing mama like myself, I hope these styles inspire you. They all take less than 10-15 minutes in front of the mirror to accomplish.
1. Chunky twistouts. My hair is about 5 inches long on the back and sides, and 10 inches or so on the top and front section. I twisted my hair while it was still damp and kept my twists in overnight. I took them out in the morning and voilà.
2. Wash and go Finger-styled. My hair looks completely different when it is wet and dry. I have noticed lately that it has already gotten long enough to respond differently to finger styling as opposed to brush styling. My curls look completely different when I use my fingers to comb through versus using a brush to detangle and style. The style below is done with finger styling.
3. Wash and go using the Aveda large bristle brush. I dug out my Aveda brush and I’m glad I did.The ease of styling with the brush is great. I use it on my wet hair after applying my leave-in conditioner.
With this technique, I have noticed that the curls are tighter and more defined on the first day. Consequently, I am able to wear my hair in the same state the following day, without needing tor restyle or co-wash my hair.
This is the latest on the hair at the little pond. I’m left to decide when to cut it back, but that’s another day’s project.
